alpha 2.0


i consider a2.0 to be the REAL start of the games life, a1.0 was just a prototype for movement and such. my motivation is kinda weird so ill work on this game in bursts and then do nothing for months but i finally managed to get a proper showcase of the basic game idea im going for

i had to migrate all of the game from godot 3 to 4, which itself took a while as i was figuring out networking again. i tried to use the multiplayersynchronizer and multiplayerspawner nodes to make my life easier, but it seems like theyre not really suited for a game with a dedicated server, so i went back to how it was before

i added a whole bunch of new shit, most importantly the actual race mechanic of my racing game, reworking physics so it now involves momentum, a level made with my own tileart, a pre-game lobby, reworked death mechanic, etc.

some smaller stuff includes randomized messages on the main menu (with easter eggs), an animated sprite, smoother collision, and a reloading rework to allow you to reload another weapon off-hand


in terms of future plans, i intend to make the server hosting process easier, make the UI and graphics better, have mario kart-style checkpoints to prevent cheating, lapped maps (rather than a sprint to the end), and in the far off future, allow for custom maps

anyways have fun playing this moderately deranged game
